New Delhi: Congress has constituted various committees for the upcoming Assembly elections in Tripura, a senior party leader said here on Wednesday.

According to a statement issued by Congress General Secretary in-charge Organisation KC Venugopal, among the panels formed, the party’s state Election Committee will be headed by its state chief Birajit Sinha and former MLA Ashish Kumar Saha will lead the Election Co-ordination Committee.

Senior party leader and MLA Sudip Roy Barman has been appointed as the chairman of the Campaign and Publicity Committee, he said.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has approved the proposal for the constitution of these committees, Venugopal added.

He also informed that the party has also appointed spokespersons and district presidents of nine districts in the poll-bound state.

Assembly elections in Tripura are likely to be held early next year.
