Patna: A day after Congress faced crushing defeats in assembly elections in three states, JD(U) on Monday advised the party to work with better coordination and understanding with its allies in the opposition alliance INDIA , if the BJP has to be defeated in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

Senior JD(U) leader and Bihar Finance Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary told media persons here that Congress did not take its allies into confidence before finalising strategy for assembly elections in five states particularly in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhatisgarh.

It was time for Congress to work in more coordinated way with its allies, if BJP has to be defeated in 2024 Lok Sabha election, he added.

Chaudhary said that Congress should give more space to regional parties recognising its importance.

Unless Congress start accommodating its allies, the purpose of INDIA taking on BJP effectively, would prove to be futile, he cautioned.

As it is, Congress did not convene any meeting of newly floated opposition alliance INDIA during the assembly elections in five states.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had openly expressed his anger over inactiveness of Congress for not convening meeting of INDIA.

Congress had also refused to accept the demand of SP leader Akhilesh Yadav for six assembly seats to contest in Madhya Pradesh.

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister had refused to recognise Akhilesh Yadav, saying who is Akhilesh- Wakhilesh.
