Court reserves Deshmukh’s bail plea order till Friday

Mumbai: A Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Thursday reserved its order for Friday on a bail plea moved by former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh in connection with a Rs 100 crore extortion matter.

The court reserved order after the prosecution and defence both concluded their arguments Thursday afternoon.

Deshmukh was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in November 2021 and is currently in judicial custody.

According to the ED, Deshmukh had misused his position as state home minister and collected Rs 4.70 crore from various bars in Mumbai through some police officers.
