Delhi Court allows CBI custody of ex Dy CM Manish Sisodia till Mar 6

New Delhi: A Delhi Special court on Saturday remanded former state Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to CBI custody till Monday in connection with allegations of corruption in the Delhi Liquor policy case.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) produced Sisodia before a Special CBI Court at Saket at New Delhi after expiry of the five-day CBI custody given to him earlier.

The bail applications moved by Sisodia will be heard by the Special Judge on March 10. The court sought the CBI’s response on Sisodia’s bail application.

CBI Special Judge MK Nagpal after hearing the prosecution and the defence sent Sisodia to CBI custody till March, 6.

Sisodia earlier moved the apex Court against the order of CBI Special Judge but Supreme Court on February 28 refused to entertain the petition by pointing out that he had sufficient legal remedies before approaching the highest court and so can make all points before the High Court.

Sisodia was arrested by the federal investigating agency on February 26 after about eight hours of questioning on various aspects of the excise policy for 2021-22. According to the CBI, the excise policy suffered from irregularities both in its formulation and implementation.

Counsel for CBI on Saturday requested for three days CBI custody of Sisodia by submitting that he was not cooperating and remained evasive in his reply by not disclosing the truth.

The government Counsel said Sisodia is required to be confronted with the case diary and with some officers in the case so that money trail could be unearthed.

The same was opposed by the counsel for Sisodia by submitting non-cooperation is not a ground for remand.
