Punjab: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Father Anthony – a close aide of the accused rapist Bishop Franco Mulakkal of the Jalandhar Archdiocese.

ANI reported that ED recovered unaccounted cash from Father Anthony at his residence in Partappura in Jalandhar.

Sources keeping a watchful eye on the dealings of Bishop Franco Mulakkal have told GoaChronicle.com that Mulakkal does have access to considerable monetary resources, that have even had Catholic Church raise a few eyebrows especially in the formation of new congregation planned by the senior clergyman.

Bishop Franco Mulakkal is the first Bishop in India to be arrested on being accused by a 44-year old nun of raping and sodomising her 13-times in two years.

While police have not revealed the total amount of unaccounted cash recovered, GoaChronicle.com has learned that money is black money and there is no proof put forward by Father Anthony on the source of the money which is reportedly several lakhs.
