On Wednesday, 31st May, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a rally in Rajasthan’s Ajmer, and lashing out at the incumbent Congress government of the state, said that the habit of offering guarantee schemes by the party is not new, and that the ‘Gareebi Hatao’ campaign was the party’s biggest lie. “Congress’ strategy has been to trick the poor, and Rajasthan has suffered because of this”, added PM Modi.

The Prime Minister further asked the gathering as to what the situation was prior to 2014, and said that people were out on the streets protesting against corruption, there used to be terrorist attacks in big cities, the Congress government was scared of building roads on the borders, crimes against women were high, there was a superpower above the PM, the Congress government was functioning through a remote control, there was darkness before the youth, but now, India is being praised across the globe.

Further, touching upon the vaccination drive in the country, PM Modi said that when the Congress was in power, vaccination coverage could reach only around 60 percent of the people, and at that time, 40 out of 100 women, pregnant women, and children could not receive life-saving vaccines. “Had there been a Congress government now, 100 percent vaccination in the country would have taken 40 more years”, he added taking a jibe at the Congress, and said, “Several generations would have passed till then. He then asked, “Can you imagine the number of poor women and children who would have died in the absence of life-saving vaccines”?

Prior to addressing the public rally, PM Modi had visited Tirth Raj Pushkar in Ajmer district, and had offered prayers at the world-renowned Brahma Ji Mandir.

Hence, while addressing the gathering, he also stated, “Before coming to Ajmer, I had the opportunity to visit Pushkar. In our scriptures, Lord Brahma has been called the creator of the universe. With Lord Brahma’s blessings, an era of new creation is going on in India. The BJP-led NDA government has completed 9 years in the Centre, and these 9 years have been dedicated to the service of citizens, good governance, and the welfare of the poor”.

PM Modi’s rally today in Ajmer became the first major event in the state of Rajasthan after the completion of 9 years of BJP’s rule in the Centre. And with this, the BJP has now launched a month-long mega outreach campaign.

It is also noteworthy that the Rajasthan State Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in the month of December, 2023.
