The Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Incubees and knowledge partner AIC GIM Foundation, have announced the launch of the Purple Fest Hackathon. This is Goa’s first ever national-level hackathon dedicated to disability issues. The objective of the Purple Fest Startup Hackathon is to encourage innovators, students, technologist, IT start ups and entrepreneurs to develop solutions and support systems that address the everyday challenges faced by persons with disabilities.

“Technology has been one of the greatest allies for PwDs. It has generated empowering solutions that overcome obstacles surrounding accessibility. So, come be a part of this revolution. Drive the engines of change at the Purple Fest Hackathon”, said Guru Pawaskar, Commissioner, Goa State Disability Commission.

“Innovations needs to provide solutions to societal needs in order to deal with challenges faced by people. Incubees believes that persons with disabilities are assets to our society and with innovative technology, we can build an inclusive society for persons with disabilities where they can work and live with less strain. The aim of the Hackathon is to find solutions”, Savio Rodrigues, Founder, Incubees.

For ideas and solutions generated at the hackathon, AIC-GIM shall endeavour to get the seed-fund amount from various schemes and sources for the shortlisted applicants. It shall also provide all shortlisted applicants an opportunity to get a funding of up to Rs. 40 lakhs from the MeitY Startup Hub and Start up India. Importantly, AIC-GIM will work to ensure all shortlisted applicants get a chance to be on the next season of Horses Stable – a start-up funding show.

The demo-day is scheduled to be held on January 6th, 2023 at The Purple Fest event.
