Gold worth over Rs 93L seized at Hyderabad airport

Hyderabad: Customs Officials at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad, near here have seized 1,785 gram of Gold, worth about Rs 93.3 lakh from air passengers, two of whom had concealed metal in the form of spray on their undergarments.

In the first case, 1,287 gram of gold in jewellery form, worth about Rs 67.56 lakh was seized from a woman passenger who arrived by AI-952 from Dubai. The Yellow Metal was concealed in a briefcase.

In another case, 498.290 gram of gold in spray and chain form, worth Rs Rs 15,74,817 was seized from two passengers who also arrived from Dubai.

The gold was concealed by spraying it in the undergarment/vests worn by the passengers.

Further investigation is under progress, Customs sources said.
