Host J&K wins cliffhanger as Sr National Roll-ball C’ship takes off

Jammu: The host Jammu and Kashmir team won the cliffhanger by defeating Assam 4-3 on the opening day of the four-day 19th Senior National Roll-ball Championship started here at Maulana Azad Stadium.

The championship was declared open on Monday by Rajinder Sharma, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation flanked by President, J&K Rollball Association, Gautam Daluja.

On the opening day, the host team defeated Assam in a nail-biting finish by 4-3 in the boys section. In other matches of this category, Maharashtra defeated Uttar Pradesh 6-3, RSSA beat Pondicherry 22-10 and Gujarat defeated Madhya Pradesh 7-2.

Whereas in girls category, Uttar Pradesh defeated Pndicherry 13-4 and Chattisgarh beat Madhya Pradesh 5-1.

The Championship is being organized by Roll-ball Association of Jammu and Kashmir in collaboration with J&K Sports Council under the auspices of Roll-ball Federation of India.

Around 750 players and officials from all over the country are taking part in the national event.
