Kolkata: The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) has issued a media release banning one of the monks for alleged controversial remarks on Ramakrishna Paramahansa and Swami Vivekananda during an address to his followers and devotees.

ISKCON issued a statement on Tuesday, saying that ” (monk) Amogh Lila Prabhu (42) has confessed to having committed a mistake by making problematic remarks about Swami Vivekananda and his guru.

He would therefore cut himself off from all social life for one month as part of atonement.

An engineer turned monk, is associated with ISKCON. Amogh Lila Prabhu’s recent remarks on Swami Vivekananda’s food habits and his Spiritual teacher Ramakrishna Paramhansa have sparked a row in social media, criticising the monk for his objectionable remarks and demanded action against him.

Bowing to the demands of many devotees and some politicians, ISKCON has banned him from public events for a month and has said that the monk regrets his remarks.
