Jammu: An army soldier sustained injuries when army troops on Monday reacted effectively after terrorists fired upon the member of a Village Defence Commuttee in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“The terrorists fired upon the house of a VDC during wee hours at around 3:10 am at village Gunda in tehsil Budhal of Rajouri district,” official sources said.

They said that a nearby Army column swiftly reacted to the attack, and a firefight ensued.

“Operations are in progress,” they said.

One terrorist has also been reportedly neutralised in the operation.

Defence sources earlier said that the Army troops effectively retaliated to the firing and thwarted a major terror attack.

In exchange of firing, one soldier suffered injuries, and he has been hospitalised.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Army Chief Gen. Upendra Dwivedi chaired the meetings in Jammu on Saturday to review the security situation in view of the surge in terror attacks in the region.

The Army is launching “Operation All Out” with the additional deployment of 3000 troops and 500 paracommandos to flush out foreign terrorists active in the hilly district of Jammu region.
