Mamata to meet flash flood victims during North Bengal trip

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will interact with families of those killed in flash flood at Malbazar and hold an administrative meeting during a four-day visit to North Bengal beginning Monday afternoon.

After landing at Bagdogra Airport, Banerjee would travel by road to Malbazar in Jalpaiguri district where eight persons died in flash flood during Durga Puja immersion on October 5.

Banerjee is scheduled to meet the family members of the victims.

She has already announced payment of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50 thousand to the injured.

Banerjee will attend an administrative meeting in Jalpaiguri district on Tuesday, and participate in a Bijaya Sammilani programme to be organised by the police administration in Siliguri on Wednesday.

The Chief Minister will return to Kolkata on Thursday.
