Moldovan PM Recean congratulates Sandu on re-election

Chisinau: Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean on Monday congratulated the incumbent head of Moldova, Maia Sandu, on her re-election.

The runoff of the presidential elections was held in Moldova on Sunday. After processing 99.73% of the protocols from the polling stations, Sandu is leading with 55.36% of the votes, while former Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo gained 44.64% of votes.

“Together we have elected a president with whom we will continue to build a European Moldova and a future of peace and prosperity … Congratulations, Madam President Maia Sandu!” Recean said in a statement published on the Moldovan government’s Telegram.

Moldovans went to the polls to elect their president for the next four years. Sandu and Stoianoglo ran for the country’s top job. Sandu secured 42.45% of the votes in the first round, while Stoianoglo came second with 25.98% of the votes.
