MoS Singh in Doha reaffirms India’s commitment to boosting ties with LDCs

New Delhi: Minister of State for External Affairs Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, who is in Doha to attend the 5th UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5), on Tuesday reaffirmed India’s strong political commitment to strengthening its close ties with the LDCs.

MoS Singh also spoke on South-South Cooperation and highlighted India’s readiness to share its developmental experience and expertise with the Global South. He also interacted with the Indian Diaspora in Doha on the sidelines of the LDC5 conference.

In tweets, the MoS said:

“Addressed India’s National Statement at the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries #LDC5 reaffirming India’s strong political commitment to strengthening its close ties with the LDCs.”

“Spoke on #LDC5 Ministerial Meeting On SOUTH-SOUTH Cooperation titled “Renewed partnerships for actionable solutions in support of implementation of the #DPoA”. Highlighted India’s readiness to share its developmental experience and expertise with brothers of Global South.”

On his meeting with the diaspora, he tweeted:

“Glad to interact with our Indian Diaspora in Doha during #LDC5 conference. Thanks for the warm welcome and wish for all progress and prosperity. This year 2023 is special as we celebrate 50th anniversary of establishment of full diplomatic relations. #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav”

On Monday, the MoS held several bilateral meetings, including with ministers from Gambia, Republic of Guinea, Cuba and Yemen.

In tweets, he said: “Met H.E. Dr. Mamadou Tangara, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambian on the sidelines of #LDC5. Assured continued support on the socio-economic development of Gambia and discussed to strengthen our bilateral ties.”

“Delighted to meet H.E. Ms. Rose Pola Pricemou, Minister of planning and International Cooperation of the Republic of Guinea. Highlight India’s ‘People Movement’ alongside positioning India as the Global Hub for Millets’.”

“Happy to exchange views with Foreign Minister of Yemen today. India and Yemen share historical relations which have remained robust. We continue to support peace and progress for the friendly people of Yemen.”

“Met H.E. Mr Rodrigo Malmierca, trade and Investment Minister of Cuba on the sidelines of #LDC5 conference in Doha. Exchanged views on deepening historical bilateral ties. Conveyed best wishes to Cuba as it Chair G77.”

“Visited the India-UNDP Fund Booth at the #LDC5 conference. The Fund has been contributing positively to building resilience in LDC countries and contributing to Sustainable Development. India is ready to share her knowledge, experience and expertise with LDC partner countries.”
