NIA raids linked to PFI, ISIS across Maharashtra

Aurangabad/Kolhapur: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday raided Popular Front of India’s (PFI) countrywide offices and people associated with the organization were simultaneously detained in many cities.

Similar raids are also conducted in Aurangabad and Nanded with the help of Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS).

In Aurangabad, five people have been detained in these raids from PFI office in Jinsi area, and PFI chief secretary Meraj Ansari has been arrested from Nanded, reports said.

Reports said that they are brought to ATS office situated at TV Center area at Superintendent of Rural Police office.

In view of ongoing raids police have been deployed in the area of ​​the ATS office. Report from Nanded stated that, action is being taken by ATS team who detained Chief Secretary Meraj Ansari from Degalur Naka area.

Earlier in the day, the NIA also conducted raids in Kolhapur’s ‘Sirat Mohalla’, besides in Pune, Beed, Parbhani, Jalgaon, Malegaon in cases linked to activities of the terror group ISIS.

NIA officials detained a man who identified as Abdul Mulla in Jawahar Nagar area, a suburb of the city, along with one from Ichalkaranji town and started inquiry at an unknown location in the district.
