Op Sanjeevani: Police nab two smugglers with poppy straw in J&K’s Ramban

Jammu: Police have foiled a bid to smuggle poppy straw and arrested two persons in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Police on Tuesday said that a narcotics smuggling bid was foiled at Batote and arrested two persons with poppy straw during a routine checking.

“One car which was on its way from Nashri towards Batote when intercepted and during checking, 23.7-kg of Poppy Straw was recovered from the boot space,” said police.

Two persons identified as Tanveer Ahmed alias Pappu and his accomplice identified as Javid Ahmed alias Nazir Ahmed, both residents of Champa, Tehsil Batote were taken into custody.

A case was registered and investigation was taken up, said police.
