Kozhikode: Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the redeveloped Vadakara and Mahe railway stations to the people under Palakkad Division of Southern Railway along with 101 others in the country through virtual mode under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, on Thursday.
Union Minister of State George Kurian unveiled the plaque as part of the inauguration at the redeveloped Vadakara railway station, while Mahe Lt Governor K Kailasanathan unveiled the plaque at Mahe railway station.
The redevelopment of Vadakara railway station was carried out at a cost of Rs 29.47 crore. The upgraded station features a modernised booking office, improved AC and Non-AC waiting hall, a new escalator, tactile flooring, resurfaced platforms, and dedicated green zones with vertical gardens. Vadakara now stands as a model railway station, combining passenger convenience with regional identity by surfacing local mural art and aesthetic enhancements on walls to reflect the cultural heritage of Kerala.

At Mahe railway station, Rs 12.61 crore was invested to transform the station into a more accessible and passenger -friendly facility, including new waiting rooms, a toilet block,extended platforms, stainless steel name board, vertical gardens and Divyangjan-friendly features.
