The Jammu and Kashmir Police, on Thursday, said that they carried out coordinated and legally sanctioned searches at multiple bookstores across Srinagar district in an effort to curb the circulation of banned publications linked to outlawed organisations.

According to an official statement, the searches were conducted in a professional and methodical manner, ensuring full compliance with legal protocol.

During the operation, all bookstore owners were strictly cautioned against stocking or distributing any prohibited material. They were also made aware of the legal ramifications of such violations and were instructed to adhere closely to prescribed regulations.

J&K Police reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and public order in the region. Citizens have been urged to avoid engaging with proscribed content and to report any suspicious activities, including the distribution of banned literature to the nearest police station, the statement added.
