Mumbai: A special court under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act remanded a man into police custody for a week for posing as a Gujarati film director and sexually assaulting a minor girl, an official said here on Wednesday.

Police said the accused, Sajid Khan, has been charged under various sections of the POCSO Act and IPC.

Police said the minor girl from Gujarat used to upload short videos of her dancing or lip-syncing on social media.
She came into contact with the accused, who brought the girl to Mumbai last Sunday and booked a hotel room for the duo.

During her stay, the accused kissed the girl and tried to rape her.

The girl escaped the hotel and managed to file a complaint, following which the accused was arrested and produced in court.
