Prayagraj Sangam station not Junction has been closed: Railways

Prayagraj: The Railway Administration has informed that as per the orders of the Prayagraj District Administration, the Prayagraj Raj Sangam station of the Northern Railway Lucknow Division will remain closed for passenger traffic from the afternoon of February 9 to midnight of February 14.

Meanwhile, taking to X Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, “Prayagraj junction is functioning properly. Don’t believe in rumours of the junction being closed.”

Railway sources said that it is being propagated in some media reports that Prayagraj Junction has been closed. “In this regard, it is to be informed that as per the orders of the Prayagraj District Administration, Prayagraj Raj Sangam station will remain closed for passenger traffic from 1.30 PM on February 9 to 12 midnight on February 14,” it said.

Sources said that regular and special trains are running regularly from the other eight stations in the Maha Kumbh area, Prayagraj Chheoki, Naini, Prayagraj Junction, Subedarganj, Prayagraj, Phaphamau, Prayagraj Rambagh and Jhunsi.

Vaishnaw said, “Yesterday, 12.5 lakh pilgrims were facilitated and a record 330 trains departed from Prayagraj Maha Kumbh area stations. Today, 130 trains have departed from the mela area so far.

All Maha Kumbh mela railway stations are operating smoothly.”
