President Murmu meets New Zealand DPM, addresses international education meet

Wellington/New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu, who is on a state visit to New Zealand, held talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Winston Peters and also addressed the New Zealand International Education Conference in Wellington.

President Murmu also paid tribute to the martyred soldiers at the Pukeahu National War Memorial in Wellington and paid floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi.

In posts on X, the MEA spokesperson and the President’s House said:

“Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Winston Peters of New Zealand called on President Droupadi Murmu. Both leaders acknowledged the progress in bilateral relations and deliberated upon ways of enhancing cooperation in several areas.”

“They held discussions on strengthening bilateral cooperation and addressing global challenges.”

“Education ties – an important pillar of India-New Zealand partnership!

“President Droupadi Murmu @rashtrapatibhvn addressed the New Zealand International Education Conference in Wellington.

“India is the country of honour at this year’s Conference.

“President laid out her vision for education and highlighted the reforms made by India in the field of education including National Education Policy 2020. She called for further deepening of bilateral education ties.”

On her laying a wreath at the Wellington Pukeahu War Memorial and paying tribute to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, they posted:

“Tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for peace and freedom.

“President Droupadi Murmu laid a wreath to pay tribute to the martyred soldiers at the Pukeahu National War Memorial in Wellington.”

“Honouring the legacy of Bapu!

President Droupadi Murmu @rashtrapatibhvn paid floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi near Wellington railway station.

“Mahatma’s legacy is a guiding light for the humankind. His timeless teachings continue to inspire us.”
