Varanasi: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday emphasised on the importance of advanced healthcare services in Uttar Pradesh and said soon all the Primary Health Centers (PHCs) will be equipped with facilities like tele-consultancy and telemedicine.

Addressing the two-day conclave commemorating the ‘Universal Coverage Day 2022 in Varanasi, Yogi said, “Health services must be linked with technology. Over 4,600 PHCs of the state will be linked with all medical colleges and district hospitals of the state as well as SGPGI and KGMU. For this health workers of the state will also be especially trained.”

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya was also present during the conference. The CM addressed health officers from 22 states of the country and health ministers of five states and 900 community health officers here.

The CM said Kashi is the city of Lord Shiva and is also the birthplace of Lord Dhanwantri. “This holy city is the workplace of the world’s most popular leader Prime Minister Narendra Modi and this workshop concerning health in Kashi will give a new message to the country,” he said.

Quoting the theme of the conclave ‘To build the world, we want a healthy future for all’, he said India always worked towards the welfare and upliftment of all without discriminating on the basis of caste, creed or religion following ‘Sarve Bhavantu Sukhina, Sarve Santu Niramaya’ (May all be happy, all be free from disease).

“India propagated Yoga and resultantly over 200 countries all over the world are leading a healthy lifestyle. Our country is being seen as a big hub of health and wellness centers,” he said.

Stating that health services must be linked with technology, the CM said that soon every health and wellness centre in UP will be connected with the facility of teleconsultation.

“Also, we are installing health ATMs at all primary health centers for telemedicine. Over 4,600 primary health centers of the state will be connected with health ATMs, which will provide the facility of testing 60 types of diseases at a single centre. For this, proper training will also be provided to the paramedical staff,” he said.

Yogi said the most important thing in the field of health is making the right decisions on time. “During the world’s biggest pandemic, PM Modi took the right decisions with accuracy. India’s health infrastructure was not as strong as it was in many developed countries of the world, but the ability of our PM to take timely decisions as per the requirement made it a model for the world. The power of many countries collapsed during the Covid crisis,” he said.

The CM said, “During the second wave, we realised the usefulness and power of Community Health Officers. We formed 72,000 teams in UP at that time. Each team included 10 to 15 people, including ANM, Asha workers, public representatives and officers. Resultantly, India gave the best model of Covid management to the world, which was widely appreciated all over the world.”

He described the Health and Wellness Centre, Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission, Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana as the four strong pillars of the health system.

While addressing the people associated with the health sector from all over the country, the CM said every week on Sunday, Arogya Mela is organised at all the primary health centers of UP, where information about the health schemes of the center and the state is given to the people. “Our doctors treat three to five lakh patients every week at all the primary health centers of the state,” he said.

Representatives of 22 states were present in the conclave, including health officials of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Goa, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Odisha, Punjab, Sikkim and Telangana.
