Doha: Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has ordered humanitarian aid to be provided to Lebanese affected by the conflict, including those forced to flee their homes.

“I have ordered measures to provide humanitarian and emergency aid to all displaced persons and victims of aggression … I confirm that Qatar fully supports Lebanon and its brotherly people in the fight against the brutal attacks they are being subjected to,” Al Thani said on Thursday following the Asia Cooperation Dialogue Summit in Qatar.

Israel started a ground operation against Hezbollah in the south of Lebanon on Monday, while the mutual exchange of air and rocket strikes continues. Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said on Wednesday that about 1.2 million people, including Syrian refugees, were displaced due to the hostilities. Lebanese Health Minister Firass Abiad said on Thursday that 1,974 people had died and 9,384 others had been injured in Israeli bombardment.
