On Saturday, March 16, the Election Commission of India announced the full schedule for the Lok Sabha elections, 2024. The Lok Sabha polls will be held in seven phases. The first phase of voting will take place on April 19, and the following will take place on April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and on June 1 respectively. The results will be declared on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.

Along with the Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission also announced the schedule for four state assembly elections in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh.

The current Lok Sabha’s term will come to an end on June 16. Back in 2019, the last General Assembly elections were held over seven phases as well, from April 11 to May 19. The BJP-led NDA had recorded a landslide victory with 303 seats in its name, while the grand-old party lagged much behind with 52 seats only.
