Stalin seeks audience with PM to lead TN MPs delegation on delimitation row

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin on Wednesday sought an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to submit a memorandum along with a delegation of MPs from the State against the proposed delimitation based on current
population under which the Southern States, including TN, which will stand to reduce its Parliamentary representation.

In a social media post, Mr Stalin, tagging a letter written to Mr Modi on March 27 based on the resolutions adopted at the first Joint Action Council (JAC) meeting held here on March 22, said he urgently seek his time to convey their united stance on this critical issue.

“Hon’ble PM Thiru @NarendraModi, I have requested a meeting with you, alongside MPs from various parties, to present our memorandum on the concerns surrounding the proposed delimitation”, he said, in the letter.

“This follows resolutions from the #JointActionCommittee meeting for #Fair Delimitation in Chennai”, he said.

“As previously mentioned, we urgently seek your time to convey our united stance on this critical issue for our people. Awaiting your earliest response”, Mr Stalin said.

In the letter tagged with the post, the Chief Minister requested an audience with him along with selected MPs from various political affiliations to present a Memorandum on delimitation that emerged from our recent deliberations.

“On March 22, 2025, Chennai hosted the inaugural JAC meeting on ‘Fair Delimitation’–a historic gathering that brought together Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and prominent leaders representing diverse political ideologies from across India”, he said.

“The voices emerging from our deliberations transcend political boundaries, embodying the concerns of citizens from diverse regions who seek fair representation in our parliamentary democracy”, Mr Stalin said.

“As this issue holds significant importance to our states and citizens, I kindly request a meeting with you to formally submit the Memorandum on behalf of the JAC”, he added.

“Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your positive response at the earliest”, Mr Stalin said in the letter.
