Telangana: Drugs control sleuths bust illicit drug manufacturing facility at Khammam distict

Hyderabad: Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) officials have busted unlicensed drug manufacturing facility operated by Upender Reddy, a close relative of Spurious Drug offender Kadari Sateesh Reddy at Khammam District.

On credible information, DCA special team with the assistance of local police , raided the unauthorized drug manufacturing facility at TSIIC Industrial Park, Annarugudem Village, Tallada Mandal, Khammam District on Friday, which belonged to Aspen Biopharma, DCA Director General VB Kamalasan Reddy said in a statement here on Saturday.

‘During the raid, the team detected illicit manufacturing of drugs at the facility and found 935 kgs of active Pharmaceutical Ingredients Valsartan and Clopidogrel at the premises,’ the statement said.

Kadari Sateesh Reddy was absconding after seizure of spurious drugs at unlicensed premises at Macha Bollaram, Hyderabad during the raid on December 4, 2023 by DCA officers . The team seized Spurious Anticancer Drugs and other drugs worth Rs 4.35 Crores from the premises.

Sateesh Reddy is also the key conspirator in the current illicit manufacturing of drugs in Khammam district.

Seized the stock and lifted the samples for analysis and further investigation would be carried out and action will be taken as per the law against all the offenders who are responsible for illicit manufacturing of drugs, he said.

Kanugula Raju Production Manager, Vasanthapuram Sambasivarao Store incharge and Sappidi Sudhakar Reddy, office incharge of the firm are present during the raid, the DG added.

DCA Deputy Director C. Rajavardhana Chary, Assistant Director G. Prasad, Drug Inspectors — K. Devender Reddy , Ch. Anil Kumar and Ch. Sampath Kumar are among the officers who carried out the raid.
