Two goods trains derail in MP; Rail Traffic on Bilaspur-Katni route affected

New Delhi: The wagons of two goods trains derailed in Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh due to ‘signal overshoot’ on Wednesday, Railways said.

As per South East Central Railway, the incident occurred near Singhpur station at around 6.50 am, disrupting rail traffic on Bilaspur-Katni route, an official from Bilaspur Railway division said .

As per the Ministry statement, 10 trains have been cancelled, 6 trains short terminated and one train was rescheduled.

It said the “Up and down” lines have been affected due to the derailment and the restoration work is in progress”.

Giving details about the incident, Saket Ranjan CPRO South East Central Railway said that, “due to the derailment of 2 goods trains at Singhpur station on the Bilaspur-Katni railway section of South East Central Railway this morning, the Nizamuddin-Durg Sampark Kranti Express, Indore-Durg Narmada Express and Indore-Durg Sampark Kranti Express were halted at Shahdol station on this section due to the suspension of train operations on this route”.

He informed, that “after cancelling the trains, the passengers will be brought to Anuppur station by bus, adding that after that the trains will be sent from Anuppur to Bilaspur and to its destination”.

Meanwhile a team of Railway officials are at the spot and efforts were on to restore the rail traffic and relief operation was underway.
