London: UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has said that his government is ready to work with US entrepreneur Elon Musk to develop the AI sector, despite differences between them.

“We will work with anybody in this sector, whether it’s Elon Musk or anybody else. We are a government that is focused on being number one when it comes to AI and working with all,” Starmer said at a press conference on Monday when asked if he was concerned about Musk dissuading people from investing in the United Kingdom.

Relations between Starmer and Musk have worsened over the past six months. The latest twist in their rift occurred amid investigations into gang-organised mass child sexual exploitation in the UK from the 1990s to the mid-2010s.

In early January, Musk accused the UK prime minister of being “deeply complicit” in the scandal involving mass rape of girls by gangs, pointing out that Starmer was the head of the Crown Prosecution Service from 2008-2013, when the rapes were happening.
