UP’ borders with Nepal to be sealed b/w May 2 to 4

Maharajganj (UP): Borders of Uttar Pradesh with neighbouring Nepal and Bihar state will be sealed for 48 hours in Maharajganj from May 2 in the wake of urban local body elections in in the state, a senior officer said here on Monday.

District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar said as per the notification issued by the State Election Commission, the international border with the nation of Nepal and the interstate border with Bihar should be closed for 48 hours from 6 pm on May 2 to 6 pm on May 4 when the polling will end in order to conduct the urban body elections in Maharajganj smoothly.

He said during this period intensive patrolling will be done by sealing the borders and pickets will be set up at all important places in order to restrict the movement of anti-social elements on the international and inter-state borders and to stop any activity affecting the elections.
