Lucknow: The next phase of the ‘Mission Shakti’ campaign which focuses on women’s safety, respect and self-reliance will be launched in Uttar Pradesh from the first day of the upcoming Shardiya Navratri on October 15.

While communicating with all the Station House Officers (SHOs), Circle Officers, district Police Chiefs, Police Commissioners, IG Range and ADG Zone late on Monday evening, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that this phase will be useful from the point of view of awareness of women’s safety and rights.

He said, “As part of this initiative, every week, two women police personnel, along with Asha sisters, Anganwadi workers, ANMs, BC Sakhis, Rozgar Sevaks, and others, will engage with women in a selected Gram Panchayat to educate them about their rights and inform them about government efforts to ensure their safety.”

The CM emphasised the importance of raising awareness about helpline numbers such as 108, 1090, 181 and ensuring that eligible women are enrolled in public welfare schemes like Pension, Kanya Sumangala, and Matritva Vandana Yojana. During this, he also gave instructions to complete the process of designating Gautam Buddha Nagar and all the 17 municipal corporations as ‘safe cities’ by October 14.

In a pivotal move towards women’s empowerment, the CM directed all SPs and Police Commissioners that alongside the existing women police station in-charges in every district and Commissionerate, a woman police officer should also be given charge of an additional police station.

He emphasised the need to assign a dedicated team of skilled and diligent police personnel to support these women SHOs. “All police superintendents and commissioners are expected to take prompt action to ensure compliance with this order,” he said.

While communicating from the newly inaugurated CM Dashboard office located at Lal Bahadur Shastri Bhawan (Annexy) building, Yogi directed to take strict action against crime and criminals with a policy of zero tolerance. He said that no matter how big the criminal is, strictest action should be taken against him as per the rules.

He said that public interest is the topmost priority of the government. “Negligence with this cannot be accepted. The increase in criminal incidents and the delay in their charge sheet and disposal show the negligence of the police station concerned, circle and SP. Every police station, circle, district, range, and zone is being directly monitored at the government level. If any negligence or irregularity is confirmed, then not only will he be removed from the post, but he will also be given compulsory retirement,” he said.

The CM emphasised that no incident should be considered insignificant, as there is something to be learned from every situation. “The seriousness of each incident should be understood and senior officers should personally visit the scene,” he said.

Addressing the SHOs, he said that they should give respect to every complainant. “Listen to his or her pain and provide appropriate solutions,” he said.

Appreciating the work of the women beat officers, Yogi encouraged the SHOs to communicate with the women beat officers and ‘gram chowkidars’ once a week. He said that action should be taken against bike stunt performers and vehicles bearing religious symbols and directed for continuous patrolling in sensitive areas.

During the special interaction, the CM praised the local administration for successfully organising the first UP International Trade Show and MotoGP Bharat 2023 event organised in Gautam Buddha Nagar between September 21 and 25.

Police Commissioner of GB Nagar also gave a presentation regarding the management of both events of global importance. Following the Chief Minister’s instructions, this presentation will be made accessible to all districts to serve as a source of inspiration.
