Seven police personnel suspended in connection with Begusarai serial firing

Begusarai: Taking serious cognizance of negligence in duty by the police personnel in connection with Tuesday’s serial firing by two motorcycle borne criminals in various parts of the district , the police administration suspended seven police personnel.

Police Superintendent Yogendra Kumar ordered for suspension of seven police personnel on Wednesday.

While reviewing the location of patrolling vehicles of all police stations and outposts in connection with the incident, it was found that patrolling was not being conducted by the patrolling parties of Bachhwada, Thehra, Fulwariya and Barauni Police stations and by the Zero mile, FCI and Chakiya outposts following which the criminals could not be caught.

The review report said that had the patrolling been conducted properly and dutifully, the criminals could have been nabbed.

The report said that the patrolling party officers adopted lackadaisical attitude towards patrolling ignoring the instructions of the police superintendent issued regularly.

Following dereliction in duty SI Shashi Bhushan Singh of Phulwaria police station, SI Mukuru Hembram of zero mile OP, ASI Vinod Prasad of Chakiya OP, ASI Krishna Kumar of Teghda police station, cop Ramendra Kumar Yadav of FCI OP, Sanjay Kumar of Barauni police station and Ram Kishore Singh of Bachhwara police station were suspended with immediate effect.

Earlier two motorcycle borne criminals travelled freely in more than the 40 Km long stretch of the district on Tuesday evening firing serial gunshots at the people and unleashed havoc in the district. Nearly 11 people received the gun shots of which one Chandan Kumar died on the spot.

The pillion rider who fired indiscriminately at the people for more than an hour on their way,

escaped from Begusarai district.

The district administrations of the adjoining the districts including Patna, Nalanda and Lakhisarai cordoned off the entry points on Tuesday night to nab the criminals.

Meanwhile, the police were trying to identify the criminals on the basis of CCTV footage. Four suspected persons as of now have been detained and were being interrogated. The entire

Begusarai district has been sealed and raids were on to nab the criminals.
