The anti-hijab protests in Iran, which are going on for around a month now, have spread across 30 cities of the country, and despite trying its best, the government has not been able to control the movement. But now, the government has turned to a new method of curbing the protests; Iran’s education minister has stated that the mental condition of the female school and college students is not stable, and all of them are suffering from mental health issues. With this, these students are being admitted to mental hospitals, so that the anti-social behaviour being developed in them could be cured. Hundreds of parents are unaware of their children’s whereabouts.

On the other hand, on Thursday, the police once again fired on anti-hijab protestors in Kurdistan and lathi-charged them. Violent protests are being carried out in 10 cities of Kurdistan. More than 210 people have already lost their lives due to police firing, and hundreds of them have been injured. More than 2000 of the protestors have been arrested. In the Karnamshah city of Kurdistan, violent skirmishes have taken place between the police and the protestors, due to which, 2 police officers have lost their lives too.

And while the police have failed to stifle the protestors, looking at the failure of President Ebrahim Raisi and his government, the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei, has now deployed revolutionary guards to crush the movement, and the highest number of them have been deployed in Kurdistan.
