Hyderabad: Tension prevails as YSRTP Chief calls to lay siege to Pragathi Bhavan

Hyderabad: Tension prevailed as YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) President Y S Sharmila on Tuesday gave a call to lay siege to Pragathi Bhavan, the Chief Minister residence-cum-camp office in protest against her arrest in Chennaraopet village of Warangal on Monday.

Sharmila was arrested during her Padayatra at Chennaraopet village following a clash between her supporters and activists of ruling TRS.

In the process of arrest, arguments ensued between YSRTP activists and TRS activists. Later, some vehicles including Sharmila’s vehicle were also damaged allegedly by TRS activists.

Protesting against her arrest, who was later released by the police, Sharmila gave a call to lay siege to Pragathi Bhavan in Hyderabad today.

When Sharmila, sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, was proceeding to Pragathi Bhavan in a car which was damaged in Monday’s incident accompanied by large number of her supporters, Police stopped the vehicle at Somajiguda.

When police asked Sharmila to come out of the car, she didn’t alighted.

A crane was brought in and lifted the car,with Sharmila inside,into the police vehicle.

The Police vehicle was towed away through the city’s streets to S R Nagar police station.

Police also took some of the YSRTP activists into custody.

Earlier, large number of police personnel have been deployed at Sharmila’s residence in Lotus Pond here and enroute to Pragathi Bhavan.
