Agartala: Security beefed up in view of the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee and TMC general secretary Abhishiek Banerjee to Tripura on Monday and Tuesday.

While Shah will address two election rallies at Khowai and Santirbazar followed by a road show in Agartala, Sarma will address three rallies for BJP candidates on Monday. Mamata Banerjee and Abhishiek Banerjee would hold workers’ meetings tonight and visit Tripureswari temple on Monday evening and hold a road show in the city on Tuesday.

Tripura police have made extra deployment across the capital city and security has been stepped up in the hotels and state guest house where the leaders will be staying. The district administrations of Unokoti, Dhalai, Khowai, Gomati and South Tripura have made several restrictions on the civilian movement in view of the VIP visits.

According to sources, Shah and Sarma would hold strategy meetings with the state BJP core committee members and senior leaders about the electioneering in the evening before leaving the state. The BJP’s election manifesto is scheduled to be finalized in presence of Shah and Sarma, which will be released in a couple of days before the Prime Minister’s visit.
