Vijayawada: Ruling YSR Congress Party and the Opposition Telugu Desam Party MLAs clashed with each other near the Speaker’s podium in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Monday.

The TDP MLAs rushed to the podium demanding Speaker Tammineni Sitaram to admit an adjournment motion given by the party against G.O. Ms.No.1.

At the same time, YSRCP MLAs also rushed to the podium and the legislators of both parties were seen jostling with each other.

Due to this, pandemonium prevailed in the house for about thirty minutes.

Later TDP MLA Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy told the media at the media point that he was attacked by YSRCP MLAs Sudhakar Babu and Elija in the presence of Assembly Speaker.

Swamy alleged that the two ruling party MLAs thrashed him and he demanded the Speaker to order for their arrest.

TDP Deputy floor leader in the Assembly K Atchannaidu said that Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, a six time MLA and 75-year old, was pushed by YSRCP MLA Vellampalli Srinivas in the house.

Atcchnnaidu demanded the Speaker to release the video footage without cuts to let people know what happened in the Assembly and how the TDP legislator Swamy was attacked.

The YSRCP MLAs also abused the TDP MLAs in the house and behaved excessively, the party Deputy Floor leader alleged.

“Unable to digest the defeat in the three graduates MLC seats, the YSRCP leaders attacked the TDP MLAs”, Atchannaidu slammed.

Meanwhile, the YSRCP MLAs denied the TDP MLAs’ allegations that they were attacked by two YSRCP MLAs.

YSRCP MLA Elija demanded that cases under the SC/ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act should be registered against the TDP MLAs for abusing Dalit MLAs in the house.

He alleged that the TDP MLAs tore papers and threw them on the Speaker. They (YSRCP legislators) rushed to the Podium only to protect the Speaker, he claimed.

Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu condemned the attack on TDP MLA inside the house.

“Never in the history of Andhra Pradesh, an MLA has been attacked inside the House,” Naidu said and described the incident as the darkest day in the Assembly’s history .

In a release here today, the former Chief Minister alleged that the attack on a TDP Dalit MLA Veeranjaneya Swamy was pre-planned and took place with the encouragement from Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
