Calcutta High Court expressed dissatisfaction over the progress of SSC scam in Bengal

Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court has rapped the Central Investigation agencies,

both CBI and Enforcement Directorate for their alleged tardy progress in the probe for the alleged role of Trinamool Congress (TMC) general secretary Abhishek Banerjee in the ‘School Service Commission’ scam case of recruitment of teachers in the West Bengal government aided schools across the state, court sources said on Thursday.

The Single-judge, Justice Amrita Sinha on Wednesday told the court about her dissatisfaction over the progress of the investigation of the Central Bureau of Investigation and the ED. Bothe the probe agencies are investigating the SSC scam ( cash for jobs to the alleged unqualified candidates).

As when the case came up on Wednesday Deputy Solicitor General Billwadal Bhattacharya submitted a status report of the probein a sealed envelope.

He also told the single-judge bench about the progress of the ongoing probe and what the agency’s next course of plan to carry out the investigation.

However, the judge was not impressed with the report and pulled up the central agencies.

“There is no substantial development at all,” the judge opined. the sources confirmed.

The DSG told the judge that he was talking about the aspect of the probe against Abhishek Banerjee and Kuntal Ghosh, and another accused who was arrested and who claimed that he was being harassed and pressured to name the TMC general secretary in the case.

“How much time does it take to probe this aspect alone? How much time do you need to examine some persons? I would say, if there is a genuine will, one can do anything,” the Court said.

“There has been no substantial development in the probe, which is presently moving at a snail’s pace.” the judge maintained.

The bench adjourned the hearing till July 14.
