Bolivian president swears in new attorney general

La Paz: Bolivian President Luis Arce swore in Cesar Adalid Siles Bazan as the new attorney general on Wednesday, charging him with safeguarding and defending the country’s interests according to the Constitution.

Siles Bazan, who was Deputy Minister of Justice, replaces Wilfredo Chavez, an official who assumed the post in November 2020.

“When we talk about defending the state … it is all of our interests as Bolivian citizens are in the hands of an Attorney General’s Office, which we are sure under Cesar Siles will provide adequate defense,” Arce said at the official swearing-in ceremony.

For his part, Siles Bazan thanked Arce for his appointment and confidence.

“My commitment, Mr. President, is to a transparent management, with verifiable, visible and transcendent results,” he emphasized.

Siles Bazan is a lawyer by profession with a master’s degree in constitutional law and judicial public management and a magistrate on the Court of Justice of the Andean Community.
