Chennai: After launching an attack on the Raj Bhavan over criticisms about the ruling DMK’s Dravidian model governance, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK Chief M.K.Stalin “requested” Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah not to shift Governor R.N. Ravi from his post at least till the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as it would be advantageous to the DMK.

It may be noted that the DMK government and the Raj Bhavan are at loggerheads on a host of issues, including sanatan dharma, clearing of Bills passed in the State Assembly and over the continuance of an arrested Minister in the Cabinet without portfolio.

The DMK and its allies also went to the extent of demanding the recall of the Governor and
also staged protests in Parliament complex to press the demand.

Having stated that the Governor, while repeatedly taking potshots at DMK’s dravidian model rule has in fact been campaigning for the party ahead of the Lok Sabha polls due in April-May next and it would be beneficial to the party, Mr Stalin minced no words while reiterating that Mr Ravi’s continuance in the post would be an advantage to the DMK.

“We have a lot of advantages. Mr. Ravi can say whatever he wants to say, but the people
of Tamil Nadu will not take him seriously. We are following what is being shared on social
media platforms,” Mr. Stalin said, while solemnising a wedding in the family of a DMK party
functionary here on Friday.

Earlier, without making any direct reference to the Governor or the Raj Bhavan, he said “Some people are occupying high posts, sitting in big places and asking about Dravidian
ideology. That post is a waste.”

“The success of Dravidian ideology lies in the fact that it has made such people talk about
it”, Mr Stalin said, in an apparent dig at the Governor, without making any specific references.

Pointing out an opinion poll had predicted a massive victory for the opposition-led INDIA.
bloc in the Assembly elections in five states next month, Mr Stalin asserted that just as
how the DMK and its alliance won the previous Lok Sabha polls and the Assembly polls
in 2021–that propelled DMK to power with a massive victory after a gap of ten years and
Mr Stalin becoming the Chief Minister for the first time–the political atmosphere will signal
an end to the BJP-led government at the Centre in the Lok Sabha polls next year.

Mr Stalin, before summing up his speech, called upon the DMK cadres, not to lower their
guard, work hard and stay united to ensure that the front headed by it wins all the 40 seats
–39 in Tamil Nadu and the lone seat in Puducherry–in the Lok Sabha polls to dethrone BJP.
