Belagavi: BJP candidate Jagdish Shettar, during the filing of his nomination for the Belagavi Lok Sabha constituency, issued a challenge to the Congress party, asserting that they should aim to secure at least 40 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Shettar’s challenge came in response to Congress leader Priyanka Vadra, predicting that the BJP would not cross 180 seats. Expressing confidence in the BJP’s performance, Shettar declared, “I challenge the Congress to cross 40 seats. The people have decided that we will cross 400 seats.”

The BJP leader exuded optimism about his victory and the broader success of the BJP in the upcoming elections. He highlighted the overwhelming welcome he received from the people during his campaign in the Belagavi Lok Sabha constituency.

“When I entered the Belagavi Lok Sabha constituency last month, more than 10,000 people gathered and welcomed me very heartfully,” Shettar said. He added that he has been actively campaigning across all areas, receiving strong support from BJP leaders, including MLAs, ex-MLAs, office bearers, and workers.

Describing the filing of the nomination as a significant event, Shettar said, “Today’s gathering is historic for the Belagavi parliamentary constituency. Thousands of people participated in the rally, reflecting the overwhelming support for the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

Karnataka, with its 28 Lok Sabha seats, will vote in two phases on April 26 and May 7. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress and JDS alliance faced a defeat against the BJP, with the latter winning a record 25 seats. The Congress and JDS managed to secure only one seat each.

The Lok Sabha Elections 2024 will be held in seven phases, commencing on April 19 and concluding with the counting of votes on June 4.

With the political atmosphere heating up, all eyes will be on the electoral battleground as parties vie for victory in the upcoming polls.
