In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through the journalistic community and beyond, Savio Rodrigues, the founder of the investigative news portal, GoaChronicle, was the victim of a hit and run. The Goa Police have swiftly registered a First Information Report (FIR) under Sections 279, 336, and 337 of the Indian Penal Code against an unknown person. On the morning of June 28th, around 8.45 am, Savio Rodrigues was returning home on his bike after dropping his daughter to college, when an unidentified vehicle rammed into his bike. The impact was severe, causing Rodrigues to lose control and sustain injuries. Eyewitnesses reported that the offending vehicle sped away from the scene, leaving Rodrigues injured and his vehicle heavily damaged. The Goa Police were promptly alerted, and an investigation was launched.

The FIR filed by the Goa Police cites Sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others). FIR filed by Goa Police in the case

Savio Rodrigues is renowned for his fearless investigative journalism through GoaChronicle. His work often delves into controversial and sensitive issues, challenging powerful entities and providing a platform for nationalist perspectives. This incident has aroused suspicion among his supporters and colleagues, who believe that the hit and run might not be a random accident. Instead, they fear it could be a calculated attempt to intimidate or harm Rodrigues due to his investigative work.

Rodrigues has made significant contributions to exposing corruption, social injustices, and other malpractices. His commitment to uncovering the truth and advocating for nationalistic ideals has earned him both admirers and adversaries. The timing and nature of the hit and run raise concerns about whether this was an orchestrated attack aimed at silencing his voice.

The incident has sparked outrage and concern on social media, where many have expressed their support for Rodrigues and demanded a thorough investigation.

The Goa Police have assured that they are leaving no stone unturned in their investigation. They are examining CCTV footage from the area, interviewing witnesses, and tracing the vehicle involved in the hit and run. Despite these efforts, the case remains unsolved, and the motives behind the incident are still unclear.
