Agartala: Director General of Police (Intelligence) of Tripura held a crucial meeting on Monday to deal with the issues of infiltration of Bangladeshi nationals and Rohingyas, which appeared to be the biggest threat to the internal security of the country.

More than a hundred illegal immigrants including Bangladeshi and Rohingya were arrested in Tripura over a month who crossed the Indo-Bangladesh border with the help of human trafficking gangs. The confession of the detainees in police custody raised an alarm for the security of the country and put a question mark on the role of BSF.

Officials said the meeting at Police Headquarters was attended by top officers from police, BSF, Central, and state intelligence agencies and discussed in threadbare the sudden increase of Rohingya infiltration into Tripura- its reasons and implications and steps taken so far.

The meeting resolved to further strengthen the vigilance on the border and to launch a crackdown operation against the listed criminals and all-out action against the touts would be taken. The recent developments in the Rohingya camps in Chittagong and Rohingya armed groups’ activities especially internecine infights and recruitment drives had some role in the uncertainty in their camps, resulting in the infiltration into Indian Territory, Police observed.
