New Delhi: Urging states to lay down investor-friendly policies and ensure a strong commitment to good governance, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that the majority of people seeking to meet him post the Lok Sabha elections in his third term are investors keen to invest in India.

In his Independence Day speech from the Red Fort, PM Modi said states should enter into a healthy competition to attract investors.

“The states should change their policies to meet global requirements. If needed, states should create a land bank. The more proactive the states are, the more efforts they make, the investors who are coming will never go back,” PM Modi said addressing the nation on the 78th Independence Day.

PM Modi said that the central government cannot alone do everything and states need to come forward with clear policies.

“When the whole world is getting attracted towards India, it is our responsibility to throw out the outdated policies and have clearly spelt-out policies. This is sure to bring the desired results,” PM Modi further said.

He also urged states to assure investors of robust law and order.

PM Modi earlier unfurled the National Flag at the historic Red Fort for the 11th consecutive time.

In his address to the nation, he highlighted various policies, schemes and initiatives of the government stating that his government had implemented reforms on the ground for the benefit of the common man and the nation.

“Our commitment to reform is not for four days of applause. Our reform process is not under any compulsion. Our reforms are intended to strengthen the country,” Modi said.
