New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav said that government plans to launch a national health screening programme. He was speaking at the inauguration of the three-day 7th International Health and Wellness Expo at Pragati Maidan in Delhi, an official said on Friday.

Jadhav presided over the inauguration ceremony of the event organised by the Namo Gange Trust and emphasised the government’s commitment to promoting a healthy India.

“The Ayush Ministry is planning to soon launch a nationwide health screening and checkup programme to detect diseases at an early stage and help maintain people’s well-being,” the minister said.

The expo has 91 stalls, showcasing various aspects of Ayush practices, including Ayurveda, horticulture, and wellness. Participation from several state and central government ministries, alongside private organisations, underscores the event’s significance.

A highlight of the expo is a three-day seminar on holistic health, guided by Ayush experts, which has drawn thousands of student participants.

The event also spotlights a renewed focus on promoting medicinal plants, with the goal of making India self-reliant in this crucial sector.

The expo has drawn participation from notable institutions such as CSIR, MDES, ICAR, NRDC, CDB, and the National Medicinal Plants Board. Additionally, Ayush universities, the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), and students from the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) are also participating in the event.

Vijay Sharma, Chairman of Namo Gange Trust, along with other trust members, welcomed the distinguished guests, including several Padma Shri awardees and prominent doctors in the field of Ayush.

The 7th International Health and Wellness Expo is being hailed as the largest exhibition of Ayush practices in India, marking a significant step in raising awareness about traditional Indian health practices on a global platform.
