Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde instructed officials to assess the damage caused due to heavy downpour, particularly in the Marathwada region, and provide immediate relief to people for loss of crops, collapse of houses, and loss of livestock, a statement said on Wednesday.
The chief minister instructed the divisional commissioner, district administration, disaster management, relief and rehabilitation department, local municipality, municipal corporation, village panchayat, and police administration, among others, to work in coordination to rescue people and offer them shelter.
The Chief Minister has directed the administration to keep the disaster management room open for 24 hours.
An emergency helpline and control room should be set up immediately to help the affected people, the Chief Minister said.
