Washington: US Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to Singapore, Bahrain, and Germany just days before the incoming US President Donald Trump takes office on January 20, the White House has said.
The trip is scheduled from January 15 to 17. On the first day, Harris will meet with leaders of Singapore and visit the Changi military base. On January 16, the vice president will meet the Bahraini leadership in Manama.
On the trip’s last day, she will travel to the US military base in the German municipality of Spangdahlem.
“Throughout her trip, the Vice President will discuss the accomplishments of the Biden-Harris Administration over the past four years in each region, the U.S. partnership with the respective nations, the contributions of U.S. military forces to regional and global security, and the enduring national security interests of the United States,” the White House said in a Tuesday statement.
A presidential election took place in the United States on November 5, 2024. Republican candidate Donald Trump, who served as the US president from 2017-2021, was declared the winner by all leading race callers and networks. Democratic candidate Kamala Harris conceded defeat.
The Electoral College voted in accordance with the will of the voters on December 17, while the new Congress approved the results of the vote on January 6. The presidential inauguration will take place on January 20.
