Los Angeles: Critical to extremely critical fire weather conditions will continue for coastal southern California including the areas of the wildfires in greater Los Angeles, said the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) on Tuesday.

The “particularly dangerous situation” will go into effect Tuesday and last through Wednesday for swaths of Los Angeles and Ventura counties due to moderate to locally strong Santa Ana winds, according to NWS.

Firefighters continued to boost containment overnight of the Palisades and Eaton fires, the two largest wildfires in Los Angeles County, ahead of dangerous winds.

Officials are concerned the strong winds paired with dry fuel and low humidity could result in new fire starts in Southern California or the expansion of the existing blazes.

The fierce wildfires scorched over 40,644 acres, and destroyed more than 12,300 structures as of Tuesday.

The Palisades Fire, the largest one, was 17 percent contained, and the Eaton Fire, the second-largest, was 34 percent contained as of Tuesday morning, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
