Ranchi: The Jharkhand government today declared a three-day state mourning from August 4 to 6 following the demise of former Chief Minister and sitting Rajya Sabha MP Shibu Soren.

According to an official notification, all state government offices will remain closed on August 4 and 5 as a mark of respect. The national flag will be flown at half-mast across government buildings during the mourning period, and no official functions or entertainment events will be held.

Soren passed away earlier on Monday morning at Gangaram Hospital in New Delhi. A towering tribal leader and founder of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), he played a pivotal role in the Jharkhand statehood movement
