Snow-covered mountains, pine forests draped in white and frozen water bodies have once again made Kashmir an appealing destination for winter travellers. Tourism stakeholders, including hoteliers, tour operators and local artisans, have welcomed the snowfall, describing it as crucial for winter tourism. Following the recent weather change, there has been a noticeable rise in hotel bookings, travel inquiries and tourist movement across key destinations.

Gulmarg, Kashmir’s premier winter tourism and skiing destination, has witnessed a significant surge in tourist footfall after the snowfall. The resort town is abuzz with activity as visitors enjoy skiing, snowboarding, sledging and gondola rides. Hotel occupancy in Gulmarg has improved, while the Gulmarg Gondola continues to draw large numbers of tourists eager to witness panoramic views of snow-laden peaks. The snowfall has also boosted confidence among ski operators and instructors, whose livelihoods depend on adequate snow cover during the winter season.

Beyond its scenic appeal, the snowfall has provided a much-needed economic boost to local communities dependent on tourism. Pony wallahs, tourist guides, shopkeepers, transport operators and other service providers are expected to benefit as tourist inflow continues during the winter months.

With weather forecasts predicting further snowfall in the coming days, optimism remains high among tourism authorities and stakeholders. There is growing confidence that the ongoing winter season will help revive tourism in Kashmir and reinforce its position as one of India’s leading winter destinations. As the Valley remains wrapped in snow, Kashmir stands ready to welcome visitors with renewed hope and confidence for a prosperous season ahead.
