Arunachal Guv, ITBP IG discuss border security issues

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik and Inspector General of North Eastern Frontier Headquarters, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Abdul Ghani Mir discussed about the security related issues along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) when the latter called on him at Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday.

Situated in the northeastern most part of India, the North Eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh shares international boundaries with Bhutan (160 km), China (1,080 km) and Myanmar (440 km), totalling 1680 km.

Parnaik, who commanded the Northern Command of the Indian Army and Army’s 4 Corps in the North East during his service, while sharing his experiences with the ITBP IG emphasized on the need to secure the country’s borders as well as integrating with the population.

He advised the IG, who took over the charge of ITBP’s North East Frontier HQs on February 25 last, to keep his troops motivated and alert, while fostering good relations with the Army, Civil Administration and local populace to create a harmonious atmosphere.

The Governor also enquired about the welfare of the ITBP personnel posted in the remote posts in Arunachal Pradesh.

He said that for their welfare, the State Government is taking up various projects like connectivity, communications and sustenance, in order to facilitate a high state of border guarding.

The Governor complimented Abdul Ghani Mir and wished him a successful tenure in Arunachal Pradesh, a communique from the Raj Bhavan said.
