In order to showcase their solidarity with their fellow Hindus, who are being persecuted by the Muslim majority in Bangladesh, the Hindu community in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, organized a protest rally beginning at the local Global Mall, at 8 AM in the morning on Sunday, August 11.
From a trickle to an avalanche, from an 8 year old Rishi, to an 88 year old Shambhu Ji, the Hindus came in flocks, to showcase the Atlanta Hindu community’s tumultuous outpouring of support for the Hindus in Bangladesh.
There was anguish for persecuted minorities, specifically Hindus, as well as resolve to vanquish the menace of oppression, during the protest.
A record combined crowd of 750 people, including noon and evening demonstration rallies, proved that there is Hindu solidarity and the evil designs of the perpetrators of genocide in Bangladesh, aside from across the globe, will be thwarted with passion and strength.
The evening peaceful vigil started with Congressman Shawn Still’s address endorsing the fervent outcries of the Hindu community, and emphatically appealing to the US Government State Department to intervene in Bangladesh to ensure the safety and the well being of the minorities.
While hoping other lawmakers would also join in condemning the barbaric killings, rapes, looting, and burning of Hindu properties pan- Bangladesh, he recalled that these atrocities were continuing for way too long and it was time that this blatant abuse of social justice was totally annihilated. Local Atlanta representative Sheikh Rahman also endorsed the sentiments of the Hindu community and assured that he would do everything in his power by way of aggressive outreach to the Bangladesh regime to curb the violence and bring the violators to justice.
The demonstrators displayed big banners, placards, American and Indian flags and blared slogans: ‘Hindu lives matter’, ‘We wanted Justice’, ‘ United Nations wake up’, ‘Jago Jago, Hindu Jago’, in an orderly fashion, on a pavement under police escort facing the Jimmy Carter road in Norcross, GA.
There was palpable sorrow at the widespread Hindu massacres in Bangladesh but also commitment and euphoria to work tirelessly across the globe to mobilize more than 1.2 billion Hindus to resolutely fight the devilish designs of the miscreants who tend to disturb the peaceful Hindu way of life.
The organizers of the event were Dhiru Shah, Amitabh Sharma, and Rajeev Menon, spearheading the vibrant Atlanta Hindu community.
They were ably motivated by associations of various hues and individuals from far and wide. They unequivocally emphasized that this Bangladesh turmoil was not contained or alienated and only a consolidated Hindu unity worldwide would prevent similar threat and chaos arriving at other doorsteps.
